Cops foil attempt to smuggle container full of liquor

The container is cut open to retrieve bottles of whisky
KUWAIT CITY, March 31:  Anti-drugs men foiled an attempt by two individuals to smuggle 1,400 bottles of imported liquor worth KD 90,000 into the country.
Based on a tip-off received by the Director of the Anti-drugs General Department Brigadier Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa about the consignment arriving at the Shuwaikh Port, a team of detectives was formed to follow up the container, which was said to be carrying sugar and liquor. The container was tracked to a particular location in Ahmadi area, after detectives noticed two people towing the container to a secret place and taking out liquor.

One of the suspects was arrested in the ensuing raid, while his accomplice escaped. The suspect confessed to smuggling the contraband from a certain GCC country, but denied smuggling other illegal goods. He added it was the third time he had brought in liquor through the same process.
