Baby shows up on Sharjah airport x-ray

An Egyptian couple has been arrested in Sharjah after attempting to smuggle a year-old baby into the country in their hand luggage.
Authorities in the Gulf state discovered the infant when the couple’s bag passed through an x-ray machine at Sharjah International Airport on Friday, local media reported.
Officials saw the outline of the child’s body on the monitors and alerted the police, who arrested the couple and charged them with endangering the baby’s life. The baby did not have a passport or a visa for the UAE.
“When customs officials saw the baby inside the bag at the X-ray scanner, they were stunned,” a Sharjah Police official told Gulf News.

“This machine is very dangerous for anyone, let alone a baby in a bag to pass through.
“A case will now be raised against the mother and father, they both have visas to come to the UAE, but they have put the life of their child at risk,” he added.
