Freya Sewell‘s fantastic idea of solitude in a world of over-population materialized in the design of the Hush Pod – a comforting chair that can easily transform into a socialization seating unit. Nothing was lost in the process of making this protective chair – the shell is made of 100% wool felt while the cushions are stuffed with recycled wool fibers. Comfortable and soft, the chair takes you into its embrace and gently covers you, giving the feeling of a womb.
The leafs close in to create an enclosed space away from stressful everyday problems, allowing you to start over once you have had enough time to yourself in the comforting embrace of the Hush Pod. As the artist says, in a world filled with new and exciting ways of communication, sometimes everybody feels the need to be alone in a reassuring environment. Why not use that time to withdraw completely – like a butterfly that can go back in a cocoon whenever he feels like it?
